Dr. Elizabeth Skoy
Partners in Health: The Role of Pharmacy in Public Health Initiatives
  • Elizabeth Skoy, North Dakota State Unviersity
Dr. Elizabeth Skoy graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from North Dakota State University and began her career in Iowa as a community pharmacist. Within a few years, Dr. Skoy transitioned to a faculty position within the North Dakota State University (NDSU) School of Pharmacy. Currently, Dr. Skoy is a Full Tenured Professor at NDSU, and continues in her role as a practicing community pharmacist. Dr. Skoy’s areas of expertise align with improving public health outcomes through pharmacy practice, include increasing immunization rates, prevention of opioid misuse and accidental overdose, chronic disease management and improving access to care. Dr. Skoy has received numerous accolades for her contribution to patient care and the profession of pharmacy. She has represented the pharmacy profession through various agencies including the FDA, CDC and the American Pharmacist Association. Most recently, Dr. Skoy also serves as the Director of the Center for Collaboration and Advancement in Pharmacy (CAP Center) and NDSU.

  • Patricia Woods, The Op Stop
Patricia A. Woods is a public health professional with 27 years of experience in tuberculosis (TB) prevention and case management at the local, state, and national levels. She has worked extensively with health departments and the Rutgers Global Tuberculosis Institute (GTBI), where she played a key role in training and supporting TB nurses. Throughout her career, Patricia has been committed to improving patient outcomes through education, policy development, and innovative case management strategies.

Suzaynn Schick
Secondhand Cannabis Smoke in Public Places
  • Suzaynn Shick, PhD., University of California, San Francisco
Suzaynn F. Schick, PhD studies the chemistry and health effects of air pollutants. She published some of the first data showing that the respiratory toxicity of secondhand smoke is greater than that of the smoke that smokers inhale and that the chemical compounds in secondhand smoke react to create new, carcinogenic compounds. She is one of the founding researchers in the emerging field of thirdhand smoke research. Her clinical research has shown that very short exposures to secondhand smoke cause vascular dysfunction and nasal congestion. She is currently studying exposure to cannabis in public places and workplaces.

Ben Wood
Moving Public Health Upstream
  • Ben Wood, Health Resources in Action (HRiA)
Ben Wood is the Senior Director of Policy and Practice at Health Resources in Action (HRiA), where he supports public health systems and communities in addressing the root causes of health and racial inequities. His work involves capacity building, technical assistance, and promoting policy, systems, and environmental changes. Previously, he was Director of Community Health Planning and Engagement at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, where he led initiatives like Health Impact Assessment, Health in All Policies, and Mass in Motion. He also oversaw statewide community health and workforce programs. Earlier, he served as the Public Health Director for Northampton, MA. Ben holds an MPH from the University of Michigan and a BA from Hampshire College and is active in several national public health organizations.

  • Travis Johnson, Infiltrator Water Technologies
Travis Johnson has worked in the Onsite Wastewater industry for 17 years. He spent the first 10 years working for a large full-service septic contractor in Minnesota. During those 10 years, he acquired all the MN SSTS certifications including his advanced designer and inspector certifications. Travis specialized in tight lots and larger flow systems. He currently represents Infiltrator Water Technologies in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
